Are you Concerned About Wellesley’s Academic Decline?

Over the past ten years, the Wellesley Public Schools have been in academic decline.  Our ranking and MCAS scores have steadily fallen.  Yet, our taxes continue to increase year after year.

Why is this happening and does this concern you?

Does BLM Promote Racial Division Among Students?

Does BLM and the organization’s sponsored curriculum — which is being used in the Wellesley Public Schools — promote and ultimately cause division and segregation?  Are the WPS moving in the wrong direction?  Do we want education or indoctrination?  The WPS DEI Director, Dr. Charmie Curry has stated that WPS has the opportunity to “mold” our children from a very young age through graduation.

Does the BLM curriculum promote “unity” or ‘division” amongst students?

Should Our Kids Be Masked In School?

Data indicates that most masks are only 10% effective at preventing transmission of COVID-19.  Is that small percentage enough to make it worthwhile for kids to wear masks for hours at school, especially when all scientists and medical professionals agree that children under 18 years of age are not in serious danger from the virus?  Some say it is worth the effort, some do not.  What do you think?  What about kids who have hearing deficiencies and who need to read lips in order to communicate?  Masks cause them to be unable to communicate with others.

Does the 10% effectiveness justify the use of face masks?

Bias Policy

The Wellesley Public Schools has instituted a policy prohibiting the use of certain words, claiming that use of those words indicate impermissible bias.  Training materials for WPS teachers and staff provide an example of an offending remark as “the principal is crazy.”

Students are encouraged to anonymously report other students for using terms allegedly indicating bias.

What do you think about this policy being implemented at WPS?

Does Wellesley Need a Recall Option To Remove Town Officials?

Many Massachusetts towns have enacted a bylaw permitting the recall of an elected official who is not satisfactorily performing his or her job, or who has broken the public’s trust in some way.  Do you support such an initiative?  Should town citizens be able to take control of their government if necessary?

Do the Wellesley Public Schools Have a Transparency Issue?

Why are the Wellesley Public Schools failing to make syllabi and curricula available to parents?  Why aren’t the schools notifying us of the drastic changes the administration has made to the substance of what our children are learning each day?  Why do they not tell us in advance of the implementation of policies that affect our children’s freedoms and academic futures?

Should CRT Be Taught In Wellesley’s Schools?

CRT, Critical Race Theory, or as it is recently being referred to, Culturally Responsive Teaching, creates lots of disagreement, as many of you may have seen via news reports. The core idea is that race is a social construct, and that racism is not merely the product of individual bias or prejudice, but also something embedded in legal systems, policies and, of course, people. Many people dislike CRT because it labels people as either oppressors or oppressed. Why should a white second grader be labeled an oppressor, requiring them to live a life with guilt? Why should a black second grader be labeled an oppressed person, requiring them to live the life of a victim with no possible chance of success? Labeling people on the basis of an immutable characteristic is wrong, no?
